I aquired a beautiful tri-colored boy in Jan. 2023. His name is Jetta. Easter weekend 2023 we attended our first AKC confirmation event in Rosenburg, TX. Jetta was so well behaved and performed very good for his first time in the ring. Jetta took first place both Saturday and Sunday for the 6-9 month puppy class.
Jetta and I attended our local Abilene AKC show this month. We met lots of new people and had an great time. My husband, teenage sons and grandson all were able to come out and enjoy the show. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday Jetta took first in his class for the 6-9 month old. On Saturday, he was awarded Reserve Winner's. This is a great start to his confirmation future.
Oklahoma Summer Classic is a very large show. 20 shows in 5 days. We attended 4 days with some of the best Shelties in this region. Jetta has moved up in class and now is competing with dogs in the 9-12 mo age range. The summer heat has caused his coat to start to shed and his ears were a bit funky, but he took first place one day and second place the other 3 days. We had fun and met new Sheltie friends.
We were in Lubbock, TX Labor Day weekend right before Jetta's first birthday. Jetta did very well this weekend despite having a stomach bug on Monday. On Saturday he won Best Of Winner and received his first points. Super proud of my boy and looking forward to the winter show line up now that he is a bit older.
We had two shows in Belton, TX in October. Jetta is out of coat but we went anyways. The first show Jetta took first place both days but did not advance. Second show, Jetta took second place day one and first place day two while being shown by a junior handler from my kennel club. Cali was shown for the first time during the second show. This girl is a rock star. Totally relaxed and showed like a pro. Cali took first place in her puppy group and advance to Puppy Best In Show.
The first weekend in November was the San Angelo, TX show. This is my home kennel club. (I was busy working that is why we don't have any show photos) This was a small show but had several shelties compete. Both dogs did very well. Jetta took Reserve Winners on Saturday and Cali competed in puppy class both days and advanced to Puppy Best In Show.
Glen Rose if the first show of the year after the Christmas break. This was my first time at this venue and I only took Cali to this show. The red dirt in these rodeo arenas is problematic when you have a white coated dog. At 8 months old, Cali took 2nd place in her class all 3 days of this show. We enjoyed visiting with other sheltie friends.
This is my second year at the Kerrville, TX show. One of my favorite venues. Both Jetta and Cali were shown. Jetta was shown by a professional handler all 3 days and I showed Cali. The first day, Jetta took Reserve and Cali 1st place in their class. The two additional days both dogs took first in their class each day.
This was my first year at Navasota. It was small show but had over 30 shelties entered and the weather was horrible. (outdoor grooming space only). Cali is starting to get her big-girl coat and is looking very good. We only stayed two days because of the weather but my beautiful girl took 1st place in her class both days and we got to visit with some of our club members and other Texas sheltie friends.
At the Abilene show Cali was shown and Scout was shown for the first time. Scout took Group on day 1 and Best In Show day 2 in the puppy class. Cali took first in her class day 1 and Reserve on day 2.
The OKC Classic is the largest show of the year for us. Lots of competition and somewhat unpredictable weather. We only stayed for 2 days. Cali took first in her class day 1 and second in her class day 2.
The Dallas show was lots of fun. Only Jetta was shown because Cali was out of coat most of the summer and little Scout is still growing. Jetta picked up Best of Winners day 1 and Reserve Winners day 3.
This was my first year at the Longview show. It was packed and grooming space was a nightmare but we had fun with friends anyways. Jetta was show and took first in his class both days.
Scout was finally over the 13" mark and was able to be shown again. He loves to show and travel. He took second on day 1, Reserve Winners on day 2 and first in his class on day 3.
In November all girls were in season so Cali stayed home. Scout was shown at the Sheltie specialty event in Conroe. Still in the puppy class at 11 months old he took third place in his class all 3 days competing against the big dogs.
